2017 Annual Support Campaign Surpasses Goal
The Wapakoneta Family YMCA is launched its 2017 Annual Support Campaign Thursday, February 2, 2017.
The campaign seeks to ensure that everyone in their service area has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Every day, the Wapakoneta Family YMCA works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues such as family strengthening, obesity prevention and providing quality child care and day camp programs to struggling families. “We are here for our community every day and for everyone . Our Annual Campaign seeks to ensure that YMCA programs and services are available for all. Last year we served over 2,500 people through our financial assistance program,” said Joshua Little, Chief Executive Officer, Wapakoneta Family YMCA. “Every day we prove we are more than a gym. We provide opportunities for families to have fun together, for single-parents to be gainfully employed by providing child care at a reduced rate, and for seniors to take programming.”
This year, the Wapakoneta Family YMCA hopes to raise at least $130,000. This is a higher goal than 2016, when the Wapakoneta Family YMCA raised over $140,000 . “We continue to see more people asking for help and the YMCA is there to provide it. We allocated over $150,000 in assistance in 2016 ,” said Rex Katterheinrich, Campaign Chair at the Wapakoneta Family YMCA. Funds raised will support child care families, summer day camp participants, our SPLASH program, Healthy Kids Day, Wapakoneta Schools Walking Program, Third Grade Swim and over 500 memberships throughout 2017 .
Last year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for over 59 kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence during the summer during day camp; over 500 individuals to have fun by getting a reduced rate on a membership and over 1,500 kids to participate in a walking program through their local school.

The campaign ended on March 2, 2017 and raised over $145,618 or 112% of our $130,000 goal. Thanks to all our donors and hard work of our volunteers.
