Youth/Teen Sports

The Wapakoneta Family YMCA offers a variety of sports and classes for kids preschool through Middle School.  Sports include Soccer, Tball, Dodgeball, G.A.T.O.R.S, and many more. We will also offer a variety of drop in sports for our Middle School Members after school.

Spring youth sports

Jukido Kai @ The Y- This class focuses on building strong character in our younger students through the time tested art of karate.  Students will develop the skills and acquire the tools that will allow them to successfully avoid danger and escape from potentially violent situations.  Students will also learn the falling, tumbling and mat works skills of basic Judo.  This training is conducted in a disciplined, yet fun environment.  We have two instructors joining the Y team under the training of Master Shane Topp from Jukido Kai.  We are so excited for this partnership.  Tuesday/Thursday 4:00-5:00pm 

Little Kickers- Introduce your child to a game filled with action, fun, and teamwork. Through learning and refining ball handling to strengthening defensive and offensive skills, your child will learn the fundamentals with positive coaching and personal attention as we lay the foundation for league play .  From building stronger skills to gaining self-confidence, soccer at the Y is about more than just the game, it is about building the whole child, from the inside out Monday 5:30-6pm          

The First Tee Drive- The First Tee DRIVE is designed to introduce kids to golf and The First Tee Nine Core Values — honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. This is a great beginner program for youth to learn the concepts and principles of golf.  Open to kids 7 and up! All equipment is provided for this class.  Tuesdays 5:30-6:15pm

Superhero Academy- Calling all heroes! We need brave and talented kids to join our Superhero Academy! Kids are encourages to stay energized and active through imaginative play and exercises.  Throughout the session we will create our own mask, and receive a cape at the end of our training!  We will work on the skills needed to be a superhero. Thursday 5:30-6:00pm   

Little Lotus Kids Yoga- Through yoga poses, breathing techniques and meditations/relaxation exercises we can guide youth to a deeper connection with their own bodies.  Youth learn physical skills such as strength balance and flexibility, as well as concepts such as cooperation, compassion and gratitude, all while having a great time! This class meets Monday/Wednesday  3:45-4:30pm        



Spring Art Programs


Elementary Theatre Club—Join us for our new Theatre Club.  Theatre Club, run by Nikki Barger, will meet the second Saturday of the month.  She will b e joined with high school choir/show choir/musical members from the high school to do a variety of fun programs.  Work on improve, play writing, singing, dancing and more with this fun group!  Grades K-4.  Theatre Club will meet on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00-11:00am

Elementary Art Club– Art Club is back this year!  We will meet the first Saturday of the month.  This year we will study “Art Around the World”.  Each month we will focus on a different country and their style of art and create unique projects to be displayed at our Annual End of the Year Art Show.  Elementary Art Club is for K-4 and will meet the first Saturday of the month from 10:00-11:30am


Tumbling Program

All tumbling classes will focus on the basics of tumble and stretching.  It is common for participants to be at the same level for multiple sessions.

Tiny Tumble (Parent/Tot)- This class will increase your childs coordination, muscle development and social skills.  Instructor will use a variety of child-siized equipment, games, music and toys to make the activities highly appealing for all.  

Tumble Tots (Beginner)- This class is designed to teach the basics of tumbling to children who have never tumbled before.  Our focus will be on the tumbling technique, flexibility, building confidence, coordination, and good sportsmanship.  Skills focused on will be cartwheels, bridge, headstand, etc. 

Rumble Tumble (Advanced)- This class is designed for those who have completed Tumble Tots an have the basics of tumbling.  Our focus will be on tumbling technique, flexibility, building confidence and coordination.  Skills focused on will be front/back kickovers, walkovers, round offs, etc.

Dodgeball is played every Monday night at 6:15 pm from October through April.  This drop-in program is free for members and $2.00 for access members.  Teams are divided each week and the rules are available at the beginning of each game.  Dodgeball is not played if Wapakoneta City Schools are not in session that day.  This program is open to children ages 5 and older. 

Game Night

Youth Game Night is held the second Monday of each month in place of Dodgeball.  We play Scatterball, Capture the Flag, Dr. Dodgeball, or you can give us your suggestions!  This drop in program is free for members and $2.00 for access members.

Youth Center

The Youth Center is open Monday-Friday evenings and Saturday mornings for kids ages 8-17 to hang out!  Kids have a ball playing the Wii, board games, Xbox or just hanging out with friends. Hours vary by season, please see the Courtesy Counter for a schedule. Children must have a permission slip signed by a parent to utilize the room.


Elementary OVer NIghter

Students in grade kindergarten-4th  are welcome to join us for an awesome night.  Doors open at 7:45pm and from 8:00-10:00pm we will have a DJ in the gym. Free pizza and pop will be delivered at midnight!  We'll be back in the gym from 1:00-6:30am where there will be 3 on 3 Basketball, Dodgeball.  We will have some quiet movie time between 2:30-6:30am.  Pre-registration is required for our Elementary Over Nighters and space is limited!

teen Lock-ins

Teens in 5-8 grade are welcome to join us for an awesome night.  Doors open at 8:45pm and from 9:00pm-12:00am we will have a DJ in the gym.  The pool will be open for swimming from 12:00-3:00am and free pizza and pop will be delivered at midnight!  We'll be back in the gym from 1:00-6:30am where there will be 3 on 3 Basketball, Dodgeball and inflatables.  Students must be in 5-8 grade and have their own permission slip.  Pick up is in the front parking lot at 7:00am.  Lock-ins are $20.00 at the door with permission slips.  Early registration is not available for these events. 

Lock-Ins will be themed.
